Volunteer

Volunteering for Contemporaries events is a great way to make friends while giving back to the Museum. If you’re interested in helping out with upcoming events and initiatives, e-mail Karen Denise, Contemporaries president. Include your name, phone number, best time to reach you, and e-mail address.

If you are interested in volunteering for the Museum, opportunities abound! See the Museum’s Web site for more information about volunteer opportunities.

Join the Board of Directors

With demonstrated involvement in the Contemporaries, you have an opportunity to be elected to the Contemporaries volunteer Board of Directors.

Our board consists of approximately 20 civic-minded Contemporaries who have proven their leadership skills by actively participating on special events committees. Board member commitments include attendance at monthly meetings during two-year terms, chairing a minimum of one event per year, volunteering during events, procuring sponsorship for events, and promoting all of the Contemporaries events.

The Board of Directors is a group of Contemporaries members who manage the business and affairs of the Contemporaries membership with guidance from Museum staff. The board meets monthly to review current activities and recommend future programs. The board position is a two-year commitment. New board members are nominated each spring, with a call for nominations at the beginning of the year. Responsibilities of board members include:

  • Co-chairing a minimum of one event per year
  • Volunteering during events
  • Attending monthly board meetings (third Wednesday of the month, 6:15 p.m.)
  • Obtaining sponsorships for events
  • Promoting all Contemporaries events
